TRACKING DEBBY: It looks like an active weather week as we track storms and unsettled weather over the next couple of days. We are tracking Debby and the storm's potential impact on the area.
While there will not be a direct hit from Debby as a hurricane or tropical storm, there is a growing threat of significant flooding and heavy rain from the storm's remnants toward the weekend.
The forecast will continue to evolve. The exact timing, track and impacts will change this week. The News 12 Storm Watch Team will deliver updates on Debby's impact as they develop.

A stormy set-up for tonight with a nearly stationary weather system over the state. This will allow an influx of slow-moving storms to slide through the region.
Each storm will move over almost the same areas tonight. This is going to allow water to collect quickly and make street flooding a big problem. Each thunderstorm will contain a lot of lightning and thunder.

This set-up lingers through Thursday - not as organized and potentially not as severe. The focus of the rain on Wednesday and Thursday will be in southern and coastal areas of New Jersey. This is not associated with the leftovers of "Debby.” We'll deal with that mess Friday into Saturday.
The latest guidance shows consistent moderate to heavy rainfall late Friday through most of the day on Saturday. An additional 1-3 inches of rain could collect. This on top of the rain from today, Wednesday and Thursday could push New Jersey rain totals to over 4-6 inches in many locations. This is more than a month's worth of rain in just a few days.
