The News 12 New Jersey Storm Watch Team is tracking a storm system that is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds that could impact Christmas travel.
Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Dave Curren says that the storm is expected to arrive by Friday and could last into Saturday.
WHAT’S NEXT: Temperatures warm to near 60 degrees on Friday. Friday will see lots of rain and strong winds that could gust to around 50 mph. As Friday comes to an end, temperatures will plummet to the upper-20s. Any water left from the rain will freeze over, causing dangerous icy conditions.
OVERNIGHT: Partly cloudy skies with overnight lows near 30 degrees.
TUESDAY: Mostly sunny skies. Daytime highs in the low-40s. Overnight lows dip to around 26 degrees.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny skies. Daytime highs in the low-40s. Overnight lows dip to around 25 degrees.
THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy skies. Daytime highs around 48 degrees. Overnight lows dip to around 29 degrees.
FRIDAY: Rain for most of the day, with strong winds. Daytime highs around 57 degrees. Overnight lows around 45.
CHRISTMAS EVE: Temperatures drop to around 29 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. Overnight lows around 19.
CHRISTMAS DAY: Mostly cloudy skies with some sun. Daytime highs around 28. Overnight lows around 16 degrees.
