A New Jersey state trooper faces alleged drunken driving charges after a crash on the Garden State Parkway Monday afternoon.
SFC. Michael Roadside allegedly struck another vehicle at the Monmouth Service Area by Exit 100 at around 2 p.m. in Wall Township. State troopers responded to the crash to investigate. No one was injured.
Roadside was reportedly driving a marked trooper cruiser at the time of the crash. He was charged with DWI, careless driving and for having an open container inside the vehicle. He was suspended without pay and ordered to turn in his gun.
According to a spokesperson for the department, "The incident is pending court and a parallel internal investigation has been started."
Roadside was working at a construction site just before the accident, according to investigators. He usually works security at the Statehouse in Trenton.
News 12 New Jersey reached out to the State Troopers Fraternal Association for comment, but did not receive a response.
