State police: Unlicensed woman drove away from traffic stop, dies in Blooming Grove crash

Police say Arietta-Gonzalez was not impaired or in custody, but during the investigation, she unexpectedly drove away from the scene.

A 21-year-old woman from Union City, New Jersey, died in a car crash after unexpectedly driving away from a traffic stop Sunday night.
State police had arrested the driver for DWI on Route 17 in Chester and were interviewing the front-seat passenger, Elizabeth Arietta-Gonzalez. Police say Arietta-Gonzalez was not impaired or in custody, but during the investigation, she unexpectedly drove away from the scene.
Minutes later, the vehicle collided with an unoccupied trailer on Orange and Rockland Road in Blooming Grove, killing Arietta-Gonzalez at the scene. It was later discovered that she was unlicensed.
