New Jersey State Police have identified the man killed in a tractor-trailer crash on the New Jersey Turnpike early Wednesday morning.
State police say that 22-year-old Christian Vergara, of Englewood, died just before 2:30 a.m. after he overturned the truck he was driving. Police say that the truck was heading in the northbound lanes near Interchange 13A in Elizabeth when Vergara veered off the road, struck a guardrail and overturned.
The crash caused major backup on the Turnpike that lasted through the Wednesday morning commute. Traffic was backed up all the way to Exit 11 at one point.
The crash was cleared around 8 a.m. The cause is under investigation.
