One person was killed and at least 20 more were injured in a crash involving a tour bus and three other cars.
New Jersey State Police say that the crash happened in the eastbound express lanes on Interstate 80 in Parsippany just after 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Police say that at least one person was killed and at least two people suffered serious injuries in the crash.
Other people involved also suffered injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
Details about how the crash occurred were unclear, but sources tell News 12 New Jersey that three passengers were thrown from the bus during the crash. One of the passengers was the victim who died.
The bus involved was an Adirondack Trailways bus, which had left upstate New York and was heading toward New York City.
News 12 spoke with a woman whose mother was a passenger on the bus. Kasey Mallette says that her mother Marla was sitting in the back of the bus when it felt like the bus hit something. Mallette says that her mother thought that the bus was going to overturn. The mother was taken to hospital to be checked out, but was expected to be OK.
Parts of the highway were closed for a time following the crash, leading to a major traffic delay in the area.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
