Two people were killed in two separate police-involved shootings Saturday morning in New Jersey, according to the state Attorney General's Office.
The first shooting happened in Paterson around 1 a.m. The office says a male civilian sustained fatal injuries in the officer-involved shooting, which happened on 16th Avenue.
Hours later, one person was killed in a police-involved shooting on the Garden State Parkway in Bass River, the office says.
The state Attorney General's Office said that shooting involved New Jersey state police, and a male civilian sustained fatal injuries. It happened around 6:30 a.m.
The circumstances that led to the pair of police-involved shootings are unclear at this time, and the persons involved have not been identified.
The AG's office confirmed in press releases that it is investigating both incidents under a law that requires an investigation into any law enforcement encounter resulting in death.
