South Orange police say they had to disperse crowds and arrest several young people at a showing of 'The Devil Inside,' at Clearview Cinemas at the South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) last weekend. The movie was number one at the box offices last weekend.
No one has blamed the movie itself, but Village President Alex Torpey says that the theater doesn't run into problems like the one they had last weekend when showing something like 'Toy Story.'
Torpey says a fight broke out in the lobby among out-of-town teenagers. Now, he say he's asking theater management to consider showing more art and family films.
Torpey says he and the police chief have already had one meeting with theater management to discuss film selection and security. He says Clearview Cinemas has been very cooperative and has already agreed to hire an off-duty police officer to monitor the crowds.
