The South Orange-Maplewood School District is apologizing for an “inflammatory document” containing antisemitic language that was sent to staff at Columbia High School.
The document included information about Ramadan – the holy fasting month for Muslims – which included a paragraph that called the United States a “co-conspirator with Israel.”
The document was created by the group Teaching While Muslim – a group of New Jersey Muslim educators.
The acting superintendent says the document was not reviewed or approved by the school district.
The news comes at the same time officials announced Columbia High School Frank Sanchez was arrested and charged for allegedly assaulting a student last year.
