The body of a fisherman who went missing Thursday at a lake in Freehold Township has been recovered, a police source tells News 12’s Jim Murdoch.
According to the source, the missing man’s body was recovered Thursday night.
Police said two men were out on a boat fishing at Lake Topanemus Park around 3:30 a.m. Thursday when one of the men fell into the lake. The other man called 911, and within minutes, crews were on the scene.
The Monmouth County dive team searched the lake, dozens of other rescue workers searched it by boat and a helicopter surveyed the area by air.
Officials said the lake is about 3 to 4 feet deep, but some areas are as deep as 10 to 15 feet.
The victim’s name has not yet been released.
