Somerset County has expanded its COVID-19 vaccine distribution program, and anyone now over the age of 65 can get a shot at Raritan Valley Community College.
Five drive-thru clinics have been held there in the last two weeks. Clinics will be held at the college up to three times per week, depending on the quantity of vaccine received from the state and federal governments.
More than 1,400 people have received their shots there, including health care workers, police officers, and seniors.
The county is working with the state and federal governments to vaccinate at least 70% of the population, and is hoping that far more will want to be vaccinated. Every county resident who wants to be vaccinated will be vaccinated by the end of the summer and likely much earlier.
Registration is required, and the clinics will not be able to accommodate walk and drive-up clients. When the supply of vaccine is increased, Somerset County will hold clinics in each of three county regions: north, east, and south.
