Some school districts switch to remote learning due to COVID-19

Schools across the Hudson Valley are returning to classes today but students in certain districts will be doing so via remote learning.
Yonkers Public Schools, New Rochelle schools and the Ossining Union Free school district are going virtual for its return from the holiday break.
Mount Vernon Schools will continue remotely until January 18.
Yonkers Superintendent Dr. Edwin Quezada made his decision Friday after the district saw a 25% positivity rate this week.
He says that coupled with a high number of staff and bus drivers in quarantine made it impossible to bring kids back into the classroom. "Sad that we have to do this. We want to make sure that once we reopen our schools on January 10 that we will not be faced with future closures," says Dr. Quezada.
