Time is running out for some dogs at an animal shelter in Newark.

The Associated Humane Societies says they may be forced to euthanize the animals If they don't find a home by Tuesday. The shelter on Evergreen Avenue has too many animals and not enough space.

News 12 reported this week that eight dogs were at risk of being euthanized. Five of those dogs have found homes. Trooper and Pez are still looking for one - and fostering is not an option. It has to be an immediate rescue or a family that wants to adopt.

"The need here is so incredibly great. There are dogs coming in every day...If this plea has tugged at your heartstrings at all, we really urge you to come forward," said AHS Social Media Manager Olivia Gonzalez.

Adoption fees for the dogs have been waived. There is also a stipend for rescue partners who commit to saving them.
