A group of friends dubbed the solar sisters of New Jersey made good on their pact from 1979 and experienced Monday’s total solar eclipse together in Missouri.
The solar sisters' planning for the day began nearly 40 years ago when they were high school freshmen and promised to view the next celestial event together.
"We have really never lost touch. We've seen each other through all things in life,” Mary Rose Muccie said.
Unfortunately, one of the women was unable to make it to Missouri because of a canceled flight due to storms.
