The colder weather may have you longing for some summer fun. But no worries! Six Flags Great Adventure announced it will open the park a little earlier than normal this year.
The park will open for its 50th anniversary season on Saturday, March 23 — just over a month away.
There are several projects to celebrate the milestone, including a first-of-its-kind roller coaster. The Flash: Vertical Velocity, a super boomerang roller coaster, is set to open later this year. There's one already in China.
Parkgoers will be able to experience micro gravity as they run upside down, almost 100 feet off the ground, according to the Six Flags website. The Flash roller coaster features a 180-degree twisted drop and it reaches speeds of up to 59 miles per hour.
