Police say a 10-year-old boy fired a gun he had found inside a Linden elementary school Wednesday.
According to authorities, the incident occurred at Elementary School 2, located at 17th Street and Wood Avenue. The gun was fired on the school?s second floor around 3 p.m. Nobody was injured in the shooting.
Police say a fourth-grader found a .38-caliber handgun outside. Fellow students say the kid was then goaded into firing it.
Two fourth-grade classes were put on lockdown after the gun was found in a closet. The school, which houses students between kindergarten and sixth grade, was then put into a state of secure alert.
Police say the 10-year-old is not being charged at this point. Investigators are still trying to determine exactly where the weapon came from.
