Malls across New Jersey,
including the Mills at Jersey Gardens in Elizabeth, are packed with shoppers
with just two days before Christmas, despite the coronavirus pandemic.
Shoppers say they are trying to do some last-minute shopping. Busy parking lots at malls and
shopping centers have been seen the entire week around the state.
Some people say they did some online shopping, but there are just some
things they wanted to get done in person. News 12 asked one shopper
if he was concerned about his safety during the pandemic.
“No, not really,” says Anthony Vincent. “I am trying to keep my distance
and get my things as quick as possible.”
Shoppers say they feel safe because they are wearing a mask, and the
other shoppers are as well.
Many malls and shopping centers have extended hours today. The Mills
at Jersey Gardens is open until 9 p.m.
