There was a scary situation in Cape May County this week when a zoo patron got a little too close to one of the wild animals.

The Cape May County Sheriff’s Office says that a visitor at the Cape May County Park & Zoo wanted to get a closer look at the cheetahs, so he jumped a fence next to the enclosure.

Authorities say that the cheetahs, Buju and Beenie, weren’t amused by the intruder, but luckily ignored him. They are reminding the public not to jump any fences at the zoo.

“Fences are there to protect you and the animals. Be sure to obey all the rules and signage when visiting any of our county parks,” the sheriff posted on Facebook.

The visitor was issued a citation for a county ordinance violation and escorted out the zoo.
