Severe storms sweep across parts of New Jersey; tornado warning briefly issued
Severe storms are sweeping across parts of the Garden State on this Friday evening, and they come as cleanup efforts continue in the wake of Tropical Storm Isaias.
The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for multiple counties through 9:15 p.m., including parts of Atlantic, Cape May, Salem, Camden, Burlington, Ocean, Gloucester and Cumberland counties.
A tornado warning was issued also for Gloucester and Salem counties through 6:30 p.m., but it has since expired.
Flash flood warnings and flood advisories were also issued for parts of the state as the storms moved through.
Radar indicated the possibility of rotation with some of these storm cells. The weather service warned that damaging wind gusts of 70 mph were possible. Quarter-sized hail was also a possibility.
