It was a violent start to the summer with back-to-back shootings spread across the city streets.
In the Bronx, cops responded to four separate shootings and discovered a Bronx man had been shot and killed in the Cambria Heights section of Queens. The victim, 33-year-old Jason Bragg, lived on Clay Avenue. Police say he was found lying on the pavement with a gunshot wound to the head.
Another man was shot and killed in the Bronx. Police say shots rang out early Sunday morning at 2766 University Ave. near Lehman College. The 24-year-old victim, Roderick Romney, was shot in the torso and was pronounced dead on arrival to Saint Barnabas Hospital. Police reportedly have a suspect in custody and recovered the weapon they believe was used in the shooting.
According to police, the youngest Bronx victims were shot last night. Officials say a 12-year-old boy and an 18-year-old woman were shot in front of 1105 College Ave. The boy was grazed by a bullet and the woman was shot in the leg. Both victims were treated at hospitals and will recover. According to neighbors, they were on their way back from the Mott Playground when shots rang out.
Cops discovered the latest Bronx victim at 34-06 Gunther Ave. just after 1 a.m. Police say a 55-year-old man was shot in the neck. He was taken to Jacobi Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigations in the Gunther Avenue, College Avenue and Queens shootings are still ongoing.
