Seton Hall University men's
basketball coach, Kevin Willard, faced off against his former mentor, Rick
Pitino, when the team beat Iona Monday night.
Williard worked as an
assistant with Pitino at Louisville. Pitino was fired from Louisville three
years ago following a federal bribery investigation.
“I said, ‘I love
you, I love you and I'm so glad to see you back,’
and he said, ‘I love you too,’ so
it was just, it's a weird emotion seeing someone that you work with for so long
and you respect so much, the joy I had when I saw him on the sideline, that's
where Rick Pitino belongs,” says Willard.
Pitino will see plenty of
action against New Jersey this season, including Rider, Monmouth and St.
Peter's.
