Service to remain modified on NJ Transit’s Morris & Essex Line due to storm repairs
New Jersey Transit’s Morris & Essex Lines will continue to operate on a modified schedule through Friday due to damage caused by Monday’s storm. Gladstone Branch service will remain suspended.
Monday’s thunderstorms caused a tree to fall on the Morris & Essex Line tracks in Maplewood, damaging the catenary structure and the overhead wires the structure supports. Repairs are ongoing.
NJ Transit says that limited service for the Morris & Essex Lines will operate between South Orange and New York Penn Station/Hoboken.
The agency says that tickets for the Morris & Essex Lines and Gladstone Branch will be cross-honored on the Raritan Valley Line and Montclair-Boonton Line trains, as well as on NJ Transit buses and private carrier buses.
Riders should check NJTransit.com or the NJ Transit app for updates on the repairs.
