Water service has been restored in a portion of Newark following an early morning water main break.
The break occurred Thursday morning on South 14th Street near Ninth Street and Gould Avenue. A portion of South 14th Street was closed for several hours while repairs were made.
Some Newark residents told News 12 New Jersey that they woke up to find that they did not have water.
Resident Sadiq Glenn told News 12 that he saw the street buckling from the water beneath the roadway.
"I looked out on the porch, and the street was lifted up. I said, ‘There must be a water break.’ I thought the landlord cut the water off,” he said.
Officials say that the repairs were completed by the afternoon.
