Sen. Bob Menendez reiterated that he will not resign as he addressed the senate floor Tuesday in light of a new federal charge that accuses him of accepting gifts from Qatar.

Prosecutors believe Menendez’s bribery and extortion scheme continued into 2023, a year longer than initially alleged. Menendez has denied all the charges against him.

Rep. Andy Kim announced in November that he will run for Menendez’s seat. Other Democrats have also announced plans to run for Menendez’s seat, including labor leader and activist Patricia Campos-Medina and first lady Tammy Murphy.
