The Scarlet Knights kicked off the 2009 football season with a home loss to Cincinnati Monday.
Cincinnati defeated Rutgers 47-15.
Rutgers fans held their traditional opening game party beforehand. Fans showed up in swarms, decked out in red and hungry for collegiate pigskin to get under way.
The Scarlet Knights play next Saturday against Howard at home.
