The Salvation Army held its sixth annual Thanksgiving breakfast event in Hackensack Thursday.
The annual event is held at the Second Reform Church on Union Street in Hackensack.
About two dozen volunteers served a hot breakfast to more than 200 people in need in the community.
"These are people who work incredibly hard - two, three jobs," says Congressman-elect Josh Gottheimer, who volunteered. "We are giving them some delicious breakfast to start their day and the Salvation Army does such a remarkable job."
Other volunteers say that the annual breakfast is important because the people in need will be getting "the most important meal of the day." The volunteers say that many other charity organizations are holding Thanksgiving dinners, but the breakfast is something different.
The volunteers also say that they enjoy being able to take time to serve and talk to the people who will partake in the breakfast.
