A Rutherford business raised more than $5,000 in an effort to keep the town's police force a little safer.
The Rutherford Police Department had a goal to equip each of their squad cars with ballistic helmets for the officers.
The owners of Rutherford business Mason's Cellar heard about the goal and took it upon themselves to help raise money to meet the goal. A GoFundMe page was started and the owners took up a collection at their store.
Co-owner Michelle Izquierdo says that Rutherford is a small community, so she was happy to help the department.
Thanks to the donations, the police department will be able to reach their goal.
