A Rutgers University football player has been arrested for allegedly carrying out an armed robbery.
Darian Dailey was arrested early Sunday morning in Florida.
According to a police report, a man was confronted by two males with a firearm demanding money. The suspects drove off and the victim gave police license plate information that was traced back to Dailey.
The Rutgers freshman was expected to compete for a starting cornerback job in the fall.
Coach Kyle Flood released a statement saying the university is aware of the situation and is gathering facts. Once those facts are gathered, appropriate action will be taken, the statement says.
Dailey marks the third Rutgers player to be arrested in the past year.
