Runners from all over hit the pavement Saturday morning for the annual Spring Lake Five Mile Run.
The race started back in 1977 with just a few hundred runners. Now the run has become one of the most prestigious road races in the country and an annual tradition for many.
More than 12,000 participants were at the race today.
The race also raises money for various charities. Organizers say that since 2002, the annual race has brought in more than $1 million for local charities in and around the Jersey Shore.
