Route 495 westbound has reopened following a truck crash that injured 12 people and disrupted traffic for hours.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office says that the crash happened just before 1 p.m. Prosecutor Esther Suarez says that no deaths were reported and that all of the injured are in stable condition.

Suarez says that it is still early in the investigation, but it appeared that the truck lost control, struck several vehicles and careened through a pedestrian plaza. It then crashed through an overpass and onto Route 495 West.
Five cars and a bus were damaged during the incident.

The crash caused a traffic nightmare ahead of the Fourth of July holiday. Traffic was diverted near the Lincoln Tunnel and bus service out of the Port Authority Bus terminal in Manhattan was temporarily suspended.
Residual traffic delays in the area were expected.
