The crash happened around 4 p.m. near Livingston Avenue and Becker Farm Road.
Officer Mark Miller underwent surgery and is improving, though he continues to deal with serious injuries, according to the mayor.
It’s unclear what caused the crash or whether Miller was responding to a call at the time.
A GoFundMe created to support his recovery has already surpassed its goal, raising more than $30,000 in just a few days.
