This is a big weekend for Springsteen fans in New Jersey. In addition to the new song, rare and never-before-seen concert footage will be shown Saturday as part of the Asbury Park Music and Film Festival. The documentary will be shown at the Paramount Theater.
Springsteen has described the new album as “a return to my solo recordings featuring character-driven songs sweeping cinematic orchestral arrangements." He says that it is inspired by 1970s California pop music.
Princeton Record Exchange owner Jon Lambert says that it will be interesting “to see how he transports an eastern edge to a western sound. I’m very curious and very excited about it.
“Western Stars” will be released June 14.
