Even if there is no snow in your backyard, there is plenty at Mountain Creek in Sussex County.

The Vernon-based ski resort has been around for more than 55 years. For those seeking adventure on the slopes, the mountain has 46 trails and nine lifts.

If skiing or snowboarding isn't for you, snow tubing is available. General Manager Evan Kovach says there is something for everyone, regardless of skill level.

"Anyone can ski or snowboard. Anyone can snow tube," Kovach said. "We have amazing lessons available for people who are looking to ski or snowboard for the first time. We use the contours of the snow to help you learn and then we can bring you all the way to the top of the mountain."

Mountain Creek is open now through March. It offers on-site lodging and several eateries, making it a perfect road trip close to home.
