A 31-year-old man was arrested and charged with murder in the death of an "elderly male" inside a Ridgefield home, police said Saturday.

Police were called to "a domestic incident" at 27 Powderhorn Drive around 1 a.m., where they arrested Steven James Oricchio after finding the victim deceased in the house, officials said.

A news release from Ridgefield police said Oricchio was "taken into custody without incident."

"I mean, it's crazy. We live in the safe Town of Ridgefield and you don't expect something like this to happen. It's also just really sad," said neighbor Sarah Fallon.

What led up to the murder is not clear.

Oricchio remains in custody at the Ridgefield Police Department under a $1.5 million court-set bond, police said.

Police have not yet identified the victim.
