We're learning more about Mikie Sherrill's road to victory as she plans her next move in her transition to being the 57th governor of New Jersey.

She started Election Day morning at Hillside Elementary School in Montclair, then took the family to the Montclair Diner.

"She ordered a yummy French toast with berries, and it was good serving her," said Maud Mciver, a server at Montclair Diner. "You know, she's just like every other customer."

Then she went around the corner for some Java Love.

"She got a flat white, so like a no foam kind of latte," said David Tan, barista at Java Love. "It's a lot of milk, got to keep that energy up to run the state."

News 12 is told she was also here a few weeks ago and ran into Michael Siegel's son, Levi.

"He was walking out the door when she walked in, and he turned right around walked back in and sat down right next to her and struck up conversation," said Michael Siegel. "He's a high school student."

He says they discussed congestion pricing. Levi actually likes the idea, but Sherrill has said it's a bad plan.

"He's impressed and thought even though he disagrees with her, he would be interested in volunteering to work for her or her campaign on traffic issues," said Siegel.
