Police in Newark are investigating reports of shots fired on 7th Avenue and 2nd Street near Interstate 280.
One resident in the area told News 12 New Jersey they heard six gunshots and saw teens running from two cars.
Newark resident Elaine Williams was walking to work when she said she saw one car quickly hit the curb. She says she then saw another car speeding around the street before she says she heard a gunshot.
“I heard a pow. I said that sounds like gunshots,” Williams said.
Another city resident, Wes Moore, told News 12, “There were about three shots that were fired and then I heard the car crash, then there were another three shots.”
There is no word yet if anyone was injured or what led up to the incident.
