Some Marble Hill residents say they are worried about their safety after spotting what they believe were federal agents near their homes Wednesday morning.
Neighbors shared photos and videos they say show agents around Exterior Street, across from the shopping center where Target is located, around 7 a.m.
Workers who spoke with News 12 said they also saw agents in the Marble Hill Houses parking lot. Residents said part of the street was blocked for a time.
One resident shared doorbell camera footage she says shows agents in the hallway of her building. News 12 has not confirmed which agency the people in the videos were with, why they were there or whether anyone was taken into custody.
Reports of the sightings spread on social media, followed by posts saying the agents had left.
This comes nearly two weeks after a federal immigration officer shot and wounded a man in Marble Hill on Oct. 8. Police said a 5-year-old child was inside the vehicle and was not hurt.
That shooting prompted protests and calls from local elected leaders for an investigation. Leaders and community advocates also raised concerns about reports that federal immigration agents were using the shopping center’s parking lot as a staging area.
News 12 has reached out to Immigration and Customs Enforcement about Wednesday morning’s reports and has not received a response.
