It is looking more unlikely that New Jersey will be the new home of Amazon’s second headquarters, according to published reports.

State leaders had been making a big push to convince Amazon to bring the so-called HQ2 to Newark.

But the New York Times is reporting that the company is close to making a deal to split the new headquarters between Long Island City, Queens and Crystal City, Virginia.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the headquarters would be split evenly between the two locations, in order to ease housing, transit and other issues that could arise from having the headquarters in one location.

The new headquarters is expected to bring about 50,000 new jobs.
