The prosecutor's office says a double shooting left one person dead and one person injured in Red Bank overnight.
They say the incident happened on the 100 block of River Street.
"Boom, boom, boom," said a neighbor. "It's 3 a.m., the shot woke me up, I ran outside. It's a nice community, my mother lived here for years. It's the first time anything happened on this street," he said.
Police are searching for a suspect. They do not believe there is continued threat to the public.
An active police investigation took place on River Street and Leighton Avenue. News 12 New Jersey saw a victim being taken off the property in a stretcher. Most of River Street remains closed while the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office investigates.
There’s no word yet on how the victim was killed. Details surrounding what led up to the homicide have not been released yet and the identity of the victim has not been confirmed.
