FORECAST:
Temperatures will nearly freeze at the ground level overnight into Saturday morning. Freezing rain is expected in northern Fairfield and Litchfield Counties. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the potential slippery conditions on untreated surfaces. Use caution on sidewalks, elevated roads and bridges. An icy glaze may also form on cars. The advisory is up from 11 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday. After that point, temperatures will rise above freezing, and plain rain will fall and hit the ground.
Temperatures will warm up into the mid-50s on Sunday and Monday. There is no longer a risk for ice or wintry weather.
The forecast looks dry for New Year's Eve, but New Year's Day will feature more rain followed by a sharp cool down.
