A Passaic man has been charged with three counts of assault by auto for a crash that authorities say left three people seriously injured Friday in Weehawken.
According to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office, Luis Tubac-Socoy, 25, was driving near Avenue at Port Imperial and Port Imperial Boulevard just before 10 p.m. when he struck a Honda CRV.
One passenger inside the Honda was seriously hurt and four others sustained minor injuries, according to authorities.
Police say he left the scene of the crash and went on to hit two female pedestrians – a 78-year-old woman from North Bergen and a 70-year-old woman from Florida. Both women were seriously hurt.
Authorities say Tubac-Socoy then jumped out of his vehicle and fled on foot. Police didn’t detail how he was found and arrested.
