A man is in custody in Florida after being arrested for the killing of a man in New Jersey.
The Essex County prosecutor's office says James Lewis, 51, is being detained in Winter Haven pending extradition to New Jersey.
Lewis is charged with the murder last month of Troy Traynham, 59, of East Orange.
Prosecutors say Lewis shot Traynham as he helped a woman unload groceries from her car then carjacked the woman.
Lewis was arrested Tuesday while visiting family in Winter Haven.
Lewis was convicted of a killing in New Jersey in 1989 and served 30 years in prison before being released in 2019.
