The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office has announced a 15-year-old girl was fatally shot and four others were wounded Wednesday in Paterson.

The shootings happened about 10:20 p.m. in the area of Essex and Madison streets.

A North Haledon 15-year-old sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.

Authorities say the four other victims are all in their 20s and 30s and from Paterson and that all sustained gunshot wounds not considered life-threatening. They were treated at St. Joseph's University Medical Center for their injuries.

The teen's name was not released. Police did not release details about a motive or suspects in the shootings.
