A 47-year-old Jefferson Township woman faces animal cruelty charges in the drowning of a puppy in a West Milford pond.
The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office says that Tonya Fea drowned the golden retriever puppy at Greenwood Pond on Bonter Road in West Milford. Officials say that the incident happened April 30.
The puppy was found by a passerby who called the police. A necropsy was performed, and Fea was charged based on the investigation.
Fea faces two counts of animal cruelty and one count of defiant trespass.
A court appearance has been scheduled for May 22.
