Wall Township parents Sharek White, 46, and Alexis Mistretta, 37, were charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a child after their toddler overdosed.
The child is believed to have been playing with items that were exposed to opioids.
The Prosecutor's Office says that township police were called to a residence for a suspected overdose on Monday Oct. 17.
Officers discovered an unresponsive toddler, nearly 2 years old, with lifesaving efforts already in progress.
First responders continued these efforts as the child was rushed to a local hospital, where she is awake and currently being monitored.
