Prosecutor’s office: Man killed girlfriend, then barricaded himself in family member’s apartment

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has announced a man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of his 24-year-old girlfriend.

Prosecutor’s office: Man killed girlfriend, then barricaded himself in family member’s apartment
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has announced a man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of his 24-year-old girlfriend.
According to the prosecutor’s office, police found the woman's body Saturday around 6 p.m. at an apartment located at 561 Hudson Ave. in Weehawken.
Upon entry, officers discovered a female, later identified as Michelle Paola Castillo Siguencia, in the bathroom.  She was pronounced deceased at 6:48 p.m. 
Police then tracked down 22-year-old Joseph Palacios, who had barricaded himself in an apartment of a family member at 112 33rd St. in Union City, threatening to harm himself.
He was arrested just before 10 p.m. and taken to a hospital with self-inflicted wounds.
The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the regional Medical Examiner.
