A man was critically injured in a police-involved shooting in Mercer County on Tuesday afternoon, according to the county prosecutor’s office.

Officials say the incident happened around 12:20 p.m. Tuesday on the 300 block of Etra Road. They say that a concerned resident called the police to report that someone was trying to break into an abandoned house on the street.

The prosecutor’s office says that when the East Windsor officers arrived and encountered the suspect, shots were fired. Details about what led up to the shooting were not provided.

The suspect was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in critical condition. No police officers were injured.
