Prosecutor: Man whose body was found in Hackensack River was shot multiple times

The body was found Saturday afternoon near the Eastern Spur of the New Jersey Turnpike in Secaucus. Police are still trying to identify the victim.

A man whose body was found in the Hackensack River on Saturday was shot multiple times, according to officials.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office says that the victim, who has not yet been identified, was shot in the upper body.

News 12 previously reported that the body was found Saturday afternoon near the Eastern Spur of the New Jersey Turnpike in Secaucus. It took several departments and a dive team to dislodge the body, which was reportedly hooked on a beam under the bridge, according to the Secaucus police chief.

Anyone who might have information about the incident is urged to call the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office at 201-915-1345 or to leave an anonymous tip.
