Prosecutor: Man charged with arson for setting fire to East Rutherford hotel room

Vincente Carabello, 55, is now facing multiple charges.

A Rutherford man is facing multiple charges for setting fire to an East Rutherford hotel room following an argument, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
Officials say the fire happened around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. They say 55-year-old Vincente Carabello was staying at the Fairfield Inn Marriott and got into a dispute with a staff member.
Officials say that Carabello set fire to his room after this dispute, left his hotel room and assaulted a staff member before leaving the building. He was arrested several hours later.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
Carabello was charged with aggravated arson, arson, risk of causing widespread injury or damage, criminal mischief and assault. He is being held at the Bergen County Jail pending a court appearance.
