Prosecutor: Man charged in Edgewater shooting that injured 2, including rapper Lil Tjay

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office has announced that charges have been filed in connection to a shooting that left two men injured, including rapper Lil Tjay.
Authorities have charged Mohamed Konate with attempted murder, armed robbery and weapons offenses.
Officials say the shooting happened near the City Place Shopping Center in Edgewater. Edgewater police were called to two locations in the town – the shopping center and near an Exxon gas station about a mile away - just after midnight Wednesday for the victims
When officers arrived, officials say they found Lil Tjay, whose real name is Tione Merritt, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Authorities say that Merritt was with two other men, Jeffrey Valdez and Antoine Boyd, when Konate tried to rob them. During the encounter, Merritt and Boyd were shot.
Surveillance video from the Exxon station on River Road shows one of the victims being taken out of a white security car - the same company that patrols City Place - and being put into an ambulance.
Graduating high school seniors Peter Ditkas and Luigi Mancini were at the 7-Eleven inside the gas station and saw the man before police arrived.
“He was belly down in the back seat, just hanging out. We thought he was drunk,” says Ditkas.
Konate faces three counts of attempted murder and armed robbery.
Authorities also say that Valdez and Boyd were also allegedly in possession of unlawful weapons, and are facing charges.
Merritt was previously listed in critical condition, but his status has been upgraded to stable. Boyd sustained injuries that did not appear to be life threatening.
